During Term 2, our class will begin a new unit involving clay animation. You might be familiar with “Wallace and Gromit” or the movie “Chicken Run”. Our animations will be much shorter, but they will have a similar story to tell. This is a fun and exciting project, but we need your help to make it a success. I will provide the students with an ample amount of primary colored clay, but any extra accessories will need to be brought from home. I am including a list of suggested extras that students can bring to make their animation better and be more realistic. The students will be divided up into teams of 2 to create their animations, so supplies will be shared among the pairs. Students will get together ahead of time to brainstorm what they need and which group members can bring which materials. The students are only required to bring limited materials. They must, however, bring a box with their name on it to store their character and materials. This can be a shoebox, plastic food storage bin or any other box type of container. They will also need a flat metal baking tray in which to build their set and around. This is needed as their characters will have magnets attached to anchor them in place during filming.

Suggested Extras:

aluminum foil

clear fishing line or monofilament

toothpicks construction paper

craft/popsicle sticks colored paper clips

Pipecleaners

styrofoam balls or blocks doll house miniatures

beads baby wipes or paper towels

sequins, Calendar backgrounds
