Montgolfier Balloon!
The Montgolfier
Brothers were born in Annonay
in France, were the Inventors of the first practical balloon. In 1782 the Montgolfier Brothers discovered that hot air from a fire going into a paper or
fabric bag made the bag rise. They demonstrated this discovery in 1782, when the
balloon they both made rose into the air about 3,000 feet and remained in the
air for about 10 minutes, and then settled to the ground more than a mile and a
half from where it rose. On September 19, the Montgolfier Brothers put a sheep,
duck and a rooster aboard a balloon to determine the altitude on living
creatures. The balloon floated for about 8 minutes then landed saftely about 2
miles from were it started from.
