Introduction:

You must have heard of a man called Pablo Picasso!

But who is Pablo Picasso? Well he was a very famous artist and you are going to find out more about his life and works.

First we have to learn a little about Picasso  and Cubism and how he contributed to the world of art.

Task:

You have to work in partners to produce a PowerPoint slide show on Picasso and Cubism. You also each have to paint a picture in Picasso style to display in your class.

Process:

STEP 1:

In Partners work together to find information about Picasso's life, cubism and his contributions to the world of art. Each pick one of the following roles.

Cubism Specialist: Your job will be to gather and research information about cubism. Please use the following scaffolding to help you.

STEP 2:

Meet with your partner and share what you learned about Picasso's life, cubism, and his contributions to the art world.  Create your PowerPoint show. Together with your partner present your PowerPoint to another classroom that you invite to learn about Picasso or your own classmates. You might want to use your Picasso painting (from step 3) somewhere in the presentation.

STEP 3:

This step is where you become the artist.  You will do this step individually.  Good luck!

1. Collect the "Paint like a Picasso's Worksheet" from your teacher. Have a go at painting a Picasso, mount it on black card and display. When you are finished with your portrait be sure to give it a Title (just like Picasso did with his paintings).

2.  Using a computer, go to the start button, programs, accessories, paint and begin creating a  KidPix portrait.  This may take some practice!  To practice cubism you might want to use only the line tool.  You may use the eraser (for corrections) and paint (to fill with colour). When you are finished with your portrait be sure to give it a Title (just like Picasso did with his paintings).

3. For added fun try Mr Picassohead
